The staff at your community of apartments on Lady Bird Lake is here to help you make the most out of your living situation, and we’re going to start by telling our residents how to make their kitchens more comfort.
“Why would I need a comfortable kitchen?” you might be asking yourself. While it’s true that you don’t exactly sit and lounge around the kitchen for hours like you might in your living room, it’s still important that you feel comfortable when you’re cooking. The more comfortable you feel while you’re cooking, the more often you’ll feel like spending an hour in the kitchen while you make dinner for yourself.
We’re not going to tell you to put a La-Z Boy in your kitchen to make it more comfortable, but we do have some tips that should help you right at home next time you start cooking. Check out the list of tips below, and please be sure to share the link to this post with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments on East Riverside!
Tip #1 — Set up a mini-entertainment stand
The first tip on our list is the most fun. Here’s what you do: grab a little shelf from Target, along with a mini-bluetooth speaker. Set that up somewhere in your kitchen, and then put your tablet or laptop on the shelf somewhere around eye-level. Now, you can watch your favorite shows and sporting events or listen to your favorite podcasts while you cook. It’s a lot easier to take the time to cook good meals when you can keep yourself entertained.
Tip #2 — Spice it up
The more seasonings you have, the more likely you are to find a combination of herbs and spices that works for you. Herbs and spices aren’t very expensive, so load up on a dozen or so next time you go to the grocery store. You don’t have to know what they all are — all that matters is that you have enough to try different combinations. If you don’t like the way your own cooking tastes, it’s probably because you’re not using enough seasoning. You might fail a few times when figuring out the right combination of herbs and spices, but stay at it!
Tip #3 — Keep the sink clean
Nothing will make you pick up the phone and order a pizza faster than seeing a sink full of dishes when you walk into your kitchen. We recommend establishing a rule that you can’t go to bed unless your sink is completely empty. It’s kind of a pain to deal with, yes, but anything that helps you cook more and eat out less is worth doing. Convincing yourself to cook something delicious is hard enough — don’t make it harder on yourself by giving yourself a sinkful of dishes to clean, too!
