Sleeping Advice from your East Riverside Apartments

Welcome to another blog from your community of East Riverside apartments! Hey residents! How have you been sleeping? If you’re like most Americans, the answer is, “not great.” It’s a sad truth that most people in this country don’t get the sleep that their body needs. You might think you get enough sleep, but are you getting high quality sleep? The quality of your sleep is just as important as the quantity. It can sometimes be hard to tell whether you’re getting quality sleep or not, but if you feel tired when you wake up, you’re probably getting less-than-stellar sleep.

Lucky for you, the staff at Mesh apartments has put together a list of things you can do to improve your sleep. Sleep affects every part of our lives, so it’s important that we focus on getting the best sleep possible. Check out our list of tips below, and remember to share the link to this post with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments on Lady Bird Lake!

Tip #1: Exercise in the morning

Exercising in the morning does two things that help with your sleep, despite the fact that it forces you to wake up earlier. First, it changes your natural clock so that you’ll get up earlier and go to sleep earlier. You won’t stay up late watching Netflix because you’ll be so tired from waking up early. Secondly, exercising in the morning tires you out, so you’ll actually have a reason to be tired at night. If you go to work and sit at a desk all day, then sit in traffic in your car, then come home and sit on your couch, you’ve really done nothing that would make you tired. Your body needs to work before it gets tired, so get up and workout!

Tip #2: Keep your laptop out of the bedroom

Try not to get in the habit of watching Netflix on your laptop in your bed. If you have a TV in your bedroom, don’t watch TV in bed either. You’re going to make your body think that the bed is just a place to hang out, and not a place for sleep. If you save your bed for sleeping, your body will start to get tired as soon as your head hits the pillow. If you must watch Netflix in your laptop, try to always do it on the couch.

Tip #3: Put down the phone and pick up a book

Reading can actually make you tired. Staring at a screen will definitely not make you tired. In fact, some experts have said that it takes 30 minutes for the mind to wind down after its been using a screen. The longer you stay on your screen, the longer you’ll have to wait before you fall asleep. We know that it’s easy and tempting to be on your phone while you’re in bed, but the more you can avoid it, the more you’ll wake up feeling refreshed.

In fact, it’s a good idea to put your phone out of arm’s reach when you’re in bed. This will keep you off your phone, and it’ll force you to get out of bed to turn off your alarm clock in the morning!

Those are all the sleep tips we’ve got for y’all this week. Thanks for reading, residents! We’ll be back soon with another blog, so check this page again next month!
